I am quickly learning that being an RA at the University of South Alabama is all about staying positive even when things aren't going quite as planned!
We keep hearing differing stories about moving to Brookley Field and we are all upset because we feel we are being left in the dark! We just want answers!
However, it makes me realize that I feel just like my residents might feel. It is our responsibility as RAs to make sure our residents feel comfortable!
If I ever question how my residents feel, I need to think back to how I feel right now!

A Chain Is Only As Strong As Its Weakest Link
Training was long, but we learned things that will help us in the long run: not only with being an RA, but also once we leave South Alabama!
Our new motto to go by is this: "We are the first to start, the first to lean & we WILL be the first to succeed!"
Stokes Hall is going to be a great community and we are already coming up with some wonderful ideas for everyone!

My First Look Into Stokes Hall!
Myself and 3 other New Stokes Hall RAs decided to take a late-night walk over to our "new home" and WOW! It is amazing!
We weren't able to see very much, but just looking into the rooms gave us an idea of how great the whole building will be in only a few days!
Hardwood floors, large rooms, even storage space above the closets and shelves! I cannot wait to move into Stokes Hall!
Start the countdown... NOW!

Stoked About Stokes!
I just just left out of our first New RA training session, and it was amazing! I am so excited to be an RA at South Alabama!
I was about 5 minutes early to the meeting (which we learned today is actually on time!), so I ran into my room to change clothes! When I came out, I saw a few familiar faces! I already knew two of the New RAs for Stokes Hall! How exciting!
We received good news, too! We might be staying in our current "temporary housing" until our new rooms in Stokes Hall are complete! That means we might only have to move one more time, not two as we had previously thought!
It's time now for some RA bonding time! I can tell that we are really going to get along great!
Here's to a great year in Stokes Hall!

Here We Go! Let The Journey Begin!
This has all happened so fast that it almost feels unreal! I submitted my application only a month ago, not actually thinking I would get a call until next year! Fast forward to Monday (four days ago), and I'm talking on the phone to Housing! The next morning I was having my interview and two days later I would get my official offer to join Stokes Hall as a new RA!
And so begins my journey!
Today I moved out of my apartment into my temporary housing at Epsilon I, the first of three rooms that I will live in during the next 18 days! Seeing that Stokes Hall is brand new at USA, it is still in the process of getting its finishing touches! For those of you who haven't seen all that Stokes Hall has to offer, go check it out here!
I will live in Epsilon I for the next 9 days while we go through RA training, move into temporary housing (at a secret location) for early arrivals (band, football, etc.) around August 8, and then finally move into Stokes Hall August 17!
Tomorrow starts New RA training, so stay tuned as I begin my life as an RA at USA!
